I cried out in the darkness
"Why won't you set me free?"
He answered me and said
"Why don't you trust in me?"
"But Lord you know I do"
I shakenly replied
"My faith is in the blood you shed
When you were crucified"
"I've asked for your forgiveness
And that you teach me to forgive
I've begged you day and night
To heal my pain within"
He said "I have forgiven you
It was done before you asked
And in the Sea Of Forgetfullness
I've placed the sins of your past"
"Yet in your darkest hours
When your faith is tried
You always run away from me
Your trust in me denied"
I cried "No Lord, not so
For I always have believed
That you are the only one
Who can set this captive free"
"I've cried out in this darkness
Lord so many times
For you to heal this broken heart
And take away this pain of mine"
He said "My child I love you
And I've caught your every tear
I've carried you through times
When you were consumed by fear"
"And I've sent into your life
My servants and my Word
Yet there you are just acting
As if you have not heard"
"I'm touching you my precious child
Each time you stop to pray
And you would feel my loving touch
If you would not run away"
"So be steadfast in your faith
Even in your pain and fear
And I will surely not forsake you
For soon my purpose will be clear"
